A visible encrypted vault is an invitation: it shows every attacker that something valuable lives here — and exactly where to strike. BlindLock takes another route: the encrypted vault hides inside an ordinary image (PNG). Steganography does not replace encryption — it complements it.

Not just encrypted

Your data is encrypted and also concealed inside an ordinary-looking image (PNG): two distinct layers with different purposes.

An ordinary carrier

The hiding place is an everyday file: a photo or screenshot (PNG). It does not advertise itself as a BlindLock vault.

Inconspicuous by design

A vault that does not look like a vault attracts no attention — unlike a visible vault file sitting on your disk.

Why steganography in a password manager?

  • Attackers look for obvious targets: databases, export files, password folders and cloud vaults.
  • Your encrypted password, note and 2FA entries live inside a normal-looking PNG carrier. Larger files use separate disguised, encrypted file-vault containers.
  • And even if someone finds the hiding place, they are only at the real wall: encrypted twice with two independent ciphers (AES-256-GCM + XChaCha20-Poly1305) and bound to your device.

What users should realistically expect

  • Steganography is not a replacement for strong secrets, device hygiene and safe backups.
  • It is an additional layer against being found in the first place — against curious eyes, targeted searches and the quick copying of visible vault files.
  • One paid BlindLock licence covers one active desktop device; iOS and Android are always free. And the file alone is not enough: without your password and your device, the content stays sealed.
